Message from the Program Director |

The twenty-first
century is said to be the "age
of knowledge." The leaders of this
century need to demonstrate innovative
ability both in engineering and in management.
Reflecting profound changes in paradigms,
the leaders should create new values
and business models by upgrading abilities
to respond correctly to the sophisticated
requirements of today's society.
Innovation in this new era relies on
the cognitive ability to mobilize the
forces of science and technology in
overall ways that can benefit human
society.
The Nissan LPIE initiative, designed
for young engineers is intended to
provide platforms of synergy between
the scientific knowledge and social
needs at the forefront of technical
innovation.
Objectives of this program is aimed
at cultivating the ability to extract
the complex social, political and economic
factors that drive future social structural
changes. To portray an overall design
of social application of new technologies
is one of the big tasks of this program.
This program is not meant to be a forum
for imparting knowledge; rather expects
much from the participants with respect
to their awareness of problems, ability
to resolve issues, sense of social responsibility
and self-reliance.
We strongly hope young leaders, filled
with new aspirations toward the ideas
of sustainability and humanity, participate
in the program.
This innovative circle of technology,
business, non-governmental organizations
and society will be completed by active
participation of participants who are
determined to tackle with issues for
which no solution is yet in sight and
who has an excellent intellect for articulating
the knowledge of different disciplines. |
